Experience & Activities
Elizabeth, an engineer and Renewable Energy Specialist with over 15 years of experience developing renewable energy projects and rural electrification planning with a particular focus on off-grid solutions and mini-grid development is a key member of the team at KK Advisors. She holds an undergraduate and Master of Engineering (MEng) degree from the University of Oxford (1999).
Most recently, Elizabeth worked with the Rural Electrification Programme of the Ministry of Energy & Minerals Development (MEMD) of Uganda as a Senior Renewable Energy Officer and was instrumental in developing and implementing the ‘Promotion of Mini-Grids’ project, co-financed by the government of Germany and the EU together with the government of Uganda, a path-breaking project which successfully leveraged private finance to install mini-grids in rural areas sustainably.
Previously, she was an Energy Consultant with Deloitte East Africa where she was regional team leader for Capacity Development in Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania for a World Bank-funded project which supported small & medium-sized energy service companies by providing financing through the Rural Electrification Agencies (REAs); prior to this, she was the Uganda Country Representative for IT Power Group (UK) where she provided GIS expertise in the preparation of bid packages for the Ministry of Energy & Minerals Development, Uganda for the World Bank-funded IREMP (Indicative Rural Electrification Master Plan) project. She also previously worked as a Research Scholar under the Carbon Mitigation Initiative (CMI) project with the Princeton Environmental Institute (PEI) of Princeton University, in the USA carrying out assessments of alternative transition strategies from today’s energy system toward the widespread use of hydrogen as an energy carrier.
She has pioneered several renewable energy projects over the years across Uganda & Africa through development partner projects with governments and academia and also published papers on the subject.
Elizabeth is passionate about advancing technology whilst preserving the natural environment through renewable energy demonstrated by her consistent work in the sector throughout her career. Her personal vision is to be at the forefront ich has been of the Green revolution for a sustainable future and to make a difference in Africa.
